BARRIONOMICS

BARRIONOMICS is expanding. From its modest beginnings three years ago with a starting capital of One Million Six Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP 1,600,000.00) at Welcome Rotunda, Quezon City, BARRIONOMICS now manages a portfolio in excess of Twenty Million Pesos (20,000,000.00) in a number of branches in Metro Manila. With the confidence that we now have a proven system, BARRIONOMICS is looking for partners/investors in other cities that we can work with.

  • vision / mission

    Our Vision

    BARRIONOMICS  envisions to see entrepreneurial  people dwell in a community, where they have a sustainable livelihood that will enable them to live with dignity and sufficiency.

    Mission:

    BARRIONOMICS as a Micro financing company will help people fulfill their mission & attain their dreams by providing financial, moral, and entrepreneurial support.

    Our aim is to establish a “Barangay Bank” in underprivileged communities.

  • What is Microfinance?

    Microfinance is the provision of small scale financial services, primarily credit and savings, to low income households and enterprises.

    Micro entrepreneurs have been traditionally excluded from the mainstream financial system because they were thought not to need financial services, were considered un-creditworthy or too expensive to serve.

    WE want to support micro entrepreneurs because we want to help them cross the threshold of poverty & become self-reliant.

    Who are the micro-entrepreneurs?

    They usually operate their own businesses and oftentimes work from home.

    • Market vendors
    • Pedicab drivers/and operators
    • Jeepney & FX/Taxi drivers
    • Carinderia operators
    • Sari-sari stores
    • Side walk vendors

    Who are qualified to borrow from our Microfinance Project?

    • Micro entrepreneurs who have been operating their businesses for at least 1 year;
    • They must have Co makers or guarantors
    • Must be approved by the group
  • How do we raise our capital?

    We borrow money from people who have small savings in banks that earn for them only 1% interest per annum.  We give 12% per annum for the money loaned to us for at least one year to enable them to make their money earn more while we relend the fund to micro entrepreneurs.

    We want to help our OFWs by giving them opportunity to make their Money earn higher interest rates.

    People with idle assets can also use it to raise capital.

    Working people / employees can borrow money from SSS or GSIS at low interest rates which they can  lend to us so we can relend to our borrowers

    Who runs the project?

    • The day to day operations is handled by full time staff
    • The staff or the management team is encouraged to buy up to 20% of the company using their bonuses or incentives to become co-owners;

    Collection Rate –  Our current collection rate is 90%. We are improving our system so we can raise our collection rate to 95-97% by the end of this year.

    Micro-Finance companies normally achieve higher collection rates than commercial banks.

    Microfinance portfolios attain higher collection rates because of our daily & weekly collection system

    Microfinance has been proven as one of the best tools in poverty alleviation.

  • Become a partner / investor

    The ideal start-up capital for a certain area is Three Million Pesos (PhP 3,000,000.00). This capital could be raised by a group of people who want to become the investors for their own areas. We bring the system and provide the management initially - and train local people for the business. The partners can eventually "take over" the operations from BARRIONOMICS if they desire.
